BATH DAY
When Chanda came
to live with us, grooming Poodles was not part of my education.
To have Chanda looking her best all the time, would have meant
having her groomed at least once a week. That was not part of
the budget! Learning 'how' to groom Chanda was part of
the plan.
For the past 11
years it has been an on-going learning experience, and a lot of bad
hair cuts!
Chanda loves to
have a bath and to be groomed. When she is told that it is
bath day...unlike most dogs who hide under the bed, Chanda is always
waiting outside the shower door. Bath days and grooming are
our quality times together.

| She is bathed with a good dog shampoo and given a cream rinse.
|
Once she is towel
dried, but still damp, she is brushed from wet to dry with a cold
blower.
|
|
To do this, it
takes a pin brush, and a slicker brush to get that 'fluffy' look.
|
|
Chanda's face feet and tail are shaved down close to the skin.
The rest of her coat is left fluffy and trimmed with scissors. |

Her toenails are
kept short with dog nail clippers, and sanded smooth with a Dremel.

Poodles grow a lot of hair in their ears. Pull the hair out
with your fingers and rinse ears with a cleaning solution. |

The teeth are scaled and brushed
every week. By taking care of the teeth, you are helping
to prevent health problems later on. |
|
Chanda is a perfect dog. She is very patient, allowing me to
do whatever needs to be done.
|
|
Chanda likes to help by brushing her own teeth.

|
Chanda seems to know how beautiful she is when she is
finished...AND... there is always a 'big' kiss for 'Mommy'.
